It still hasn't finished, but since icemanjc two posts above asked for a report, I thought I'd supply it to see if someone can help me with what happened. So I'm running the 'Virus Barrier Express' that I just downloaded from the Mac App Store. I also thought it was a virus initialy, although I'm not sure if it is or not. I'm extremely happy with it and I'm now a new Apple convert in every case!!!īut today for the first time I had my first problem and I searched through Google until I found this thread which explains in detail exactly what went wron with my MacBook about half an hour ago. I'm new to this forum as I recently bought my first Mac. The popup didn't even say "warning," just a blunt, "You need to restart your computer now." Has anyone seen this before? But I have never gotten an "advance warning" to restart. My mac has hung up maybe a handful of times over past several years, eventually escalating to sounding like a jet engine revving up. I am a little bit nervous about what happened. I pulled the plug, waited a bit, then turned the mac on again. But I couldn't do anything with the screen already frozen. I have had it start to rev up a little and then calm back down, the fan apparently having done its job. An Apple Genius Bar tech once told me that when the fan starts really revving up like that, the system has already crashed and I should unplug it as too late to do anything else. Within a few minutes, however, the Mac did start to whine as it does on occasion when it hangs. thinking of just pulling the plug (yikes) because it didn't look like anything I had ever seen on my Mac since owning one. As I sat there, uncertain - not wanting to restart as I was doubting this was legit but not sure what to do. The message was repeated in what looked like French, German, and Japanese. Window had dark gray background with white print, saying "You need to restart your computer now. Had selected all tracks from an album when a window popped up, graying out screen /freezing everything. Universal input HandBrake is no longer limited to DVDs: it will now accept practically any type of video as a source.Should I be concerned? I was working in iTunes, revising Info data on groups of tracks. This massive enhancement was achieved by tapping into the power of libavcodec and libavformat from the FFmpeg project. Video quality The x264 project has really come into its own this year, and HandBrake 0.9.3 integrates the latest improvements to the H.264 encoding library. No more internal DVD decryption Yeah, we know, no one reading this is going 'Oh wow, no more DVD decryption-what a great new feature!' flexibility HandBrake now offers total control over multiple audio tracks.Picture quality has enhanced dramatically through the use of psychovisual rate distortion and adaptive quantization, and there have been significant speed optimizations. HandBrake will dynamically load VLC's copy of libdvdcss if you have it in your Applications folder in Mac OS X. We're not about to stop you from choosing to decrypt DVDs. Persistent queues When queueing up a bunch of videos to encode, you need no longer fear a crash in HandBrake's graphical interfaces. If you're on a Mac, and you have VLC 0.9.x installed, you won't even notice the internal capability's gone. New, better organized presets (Be sure to run 'Update Built-In Presets' from the Presets menu!) The presets are now 'nested' in folders and have evolved.Queued jobs are cached to disk for safekeeping between sessions.
